Our youngest students have a blast in this introduction to storytelling through creative movement, ballet technique, singing and dramatic play. A great precursor to production classes, this program allows our smallest PACK-ers to follow directions, work together with peers, and gain confidence as performers. Each session culminates in a low-key studio performance for friends and family.
Junior Company members benefit from a diverse program that emphasizes Broadway-style choreography, group scene work, and singing in character. The performers prepare two musical numbers and a scene for the current show, while learning technique through games and exercises.
Sr. Company Musical Theatre (grades 3-4)
Senior Company members dive deeper into learning complex choreography, creating compelling characters, and singing, both solo and as part of a group. The performers prepare at least three musical numbers and challenging scenes for the current production as they practice vocal technique, dance warm-ups, and taking direction.
Teen Company Musical Theatre (grades 5 & up)
Our most accomplished musical theater performers are responsible for a large portion of the production, including opportunities for solo singing, polished dance numbers and scenes that stretch their acting muscles. Teen Company is also a welcome space for new performers; Jr. and Sr. Company veterans have the chance to be leaders, as they share what they have learned from past productions.
Ballet (ages 5 & up)
The ballet program focuses on technique and strength training, as well as characterization while dancing. This program is highly recommended for all Musical Theatre students. Combining Cecchetti Method discipline with performance fundamentals, PACK’s ballet program builds dancer confidence while preparing an engaging number for the current production. Ballet students are eligible to move up through the levels as they grow as dancers and performers.
Hip Hop (ages 5 & up) The class is an exploration of the themes and fundamentals of Hip-Hop culture, as well as contemporary choreography that is showcased in PACK’s current production. Dancers will learn both the classic movement vocabulary and the current trends, for dance piece that blends old and new. Advanced levels are available for hip-hop dancers who are ready for fresh challenges.
Tap (ages 5 & up)
Tappers will learn proper technique and enhance their musicality as they sample a variety of styles, including Broadway tap and hoofing/rhythm tap. This group of dancers will perform in a dynamic tap number for the current production. Ms. Carolyn can make recommendations regarding purchasing tap shoes.
Ballet Body (adults)
In this adult fitness class, participants can relive their glory days as dancers or try something completely new! The multi-level workout includes toning and lengthening muscles, strength training at the barre and cardio choreography.
Bring your own tap shoes to this adult dance class, where experienced tappers and complete novices can enjoy time laughing and dancing together. While the basis of this class is strong technique, the lighthearted atmosphere and community vibe make it a welcoming place for all.
Theatre Games & Improv (grades 2-up)
Participants sharpen their improvisation skills and ability to perform without a script. Theater games teach characterization, collaboration, and artistic risk-taking with humor and fun. This class is a great introduction to the craft for eager newbies, as well as a creative exploration for experienced performers.
